2025 will be an important year for Mödling – the election will decide how our city will develop in the coming years.

We want to bring a breath of fresh air to Mödling with a highly motivated team of experts.

What do we get from the city forest when the trees die? What do we get out of a beautiful pedestrian zone if many stores are empty and the streets are silent and empty after 10 pm? What good is a great city if the rents are unaffordable for many?

Green politics for Mödling in a nutshell:

A green leisure oasis at the former petrol station site Badstrasse

Affordable housing

A lively city centre

A vibrant local scene of cafes and bars

More stores with appropriate sector mix

A safe, seamless cycle path network

Consume-free places for young people

More trees and green spaces

Promotion of neighbourhood initiatives

More education and childcare facilities

Mandatory citizen participation in planning processes

Commitment to social issues

Mödling needs a breath of fresh air!

Mödling is an attractive town. We are (partly) spoiled by good infrastructure, schools, kindergartens, cafes, pubs, restaurants and cultural activities. We enjoy the proximity to nature and forests, we like to walk along the Mödlingbach creek or stroll through the pedestrian area in our medieval centre.

But more and more shop vacancies are becoming visible in the city centre and the evenings are quite silent, lacking entertainment for the young as well for adults. Construction projects are forcing trees to be chopped and green spaces in our city are becoming fewer and fewer. We need a paradigm shift. Urgent problems are currently ignored!

Green visions for Mödling:

  • gentle mobility
  • more trees and green spaces
  • affordable housing
  • places for young people
  • stimulation of the centre
  • vibrant bars, pubs and restaurants and broad cultural activities
  • Variety of stores with an attractive mix of sectors

More green into the city!

The past hot summers have shown that Mödling needs more greenery.

We must plant more trees providing shade, making the city more liveable during heat episodes. It is high time for shaded streets and cooler places. Mödling needs trees, green spaces and water features, drinking fountains and water playgrounds.

The former petrol station area Badstrasse as a green and leisure oasis:

We want a green oasis in the city centre: a park for everyone, with barbecue and chilling areas for you and your friends by the stream, with cozy hammocks and a ball playground.

Traffic calming on Freiheitsplatz and Hauptstrasse:

Less traffic – more greenery. Freiheitsplatz could become a meeting place: Trees could provide plenty of shade on this central square, inviting people to rest and enjoy after shopping. The Hauptstrasse could also become much greener and more traffic-calmed.

Voting green, means voting for trees instead of concrete.

Green visions for Mödling:

  • Leisure oasis at the former petrol station site Badstrasse
  • Freiheitsplatz to relax and enjoy
  • Less traffic on the Hauptstrasse
  • Consistent tree planting in streets and squares
  • Green areas, water features and water playgrounds

CLIMATE-FRIENDLY & SAFE MOBILITY

Shopping by cargo bike, taking the bus to the train station, walking to the schools: more and more people want to get around in a climate-friendly way: Walking and cycling on safe paths.

A safe network of cycle paths

Mödling is ideal for cycling. To enhance safety for cycling, a seamless cycle path network, more cycle parking spaces and “cycle highways” along the Südbahn and the Mödlingbach are required.

The railway station as a central transport hub

The railway tracks to Vienna will be extended to four tracks by the mid-2030s. This offers new opportunities for Mödling: the station forecourt must be redesigned as a central transport hub. We need a strong green statement here!

Safe and barrier-free travelling

Children need safe pedestrian crossways, people with baby carriages or wheelchairs need barrier-free crossings, older people appreciate benches to rest.

Voting Green means voting for climate-friendly mobility.

Green visions for Mödling:

  • Seamless cycle path network
  • Railway Station forecourt as a central transport hub
  • barrier-free, save crossways for young and old
  • Nearby car sharing stations

ENJOYING URBAN LIFE

Mödling has the best preconditions for high quality of life: shopping streets and markets, parks and squares, the forest, cultural venues, creative artists, committed entrepreneurs and business initiatives.

Attractive for young people

There is a need for public places to hang out and chill out, for attractive bars and cafes that stay open until late night. More opportunities for sport and entertainment are required.

Open to art and culture

Mödling is home to many artists and creative people – but we hardly notice it. There is high time for diversity and creativity! Young artists need rehearsal rooms, performance opportunities and more legal graffiti areas.

Revitalize Schöffelstadt, developing an appropriate utilization concept for the Leiner Areal

Schöffelstadt has a lot of potential for urban life. Expansion of the infrastructure, more attractive design of public spaces and a solution to the parking problem would enhance the attractiveness of this quarter. Affordable housing dedicated to young people should be built on the Leiner Areal.

Voting Green means voting for commitment to an attractive town for all generations.

Green visions for Mödling:

  • Places to chill out and more space for exercising
  • Space for artists and creative people
  • Making the Schöffelstadt more attractive
  • Use the Leiner Areal for affordable housing dedicated to young people

SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

Promoting neighbourhood initiatives

We will promote neighbourhood initiatives, community gardens, clubs, neighbourhood festivals and similar.

Supporting the local economy

We rely on neighbourhood  networking and cooperation with companies – also to strengthen sustainability: Mödling needs a repair centre, delivery services by cargo bike and attention to companies which train apprentices.

Sensible use of public land:

The city administration should use publicly owned land for affordable housing

Support schools and kindergartens:

Ideas of committed teachers must be supported, All children from the age of two shall be provided with kindergarten places and afternoon care.

The Green Party is committed to good social infrastructure and affordable housing for Mödling.

Voting Green means voting for shaping the future together.

Green visions for Mödling:

  • Support neighbourhood initiatives
  • Establish a lively city with a variety of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants.
  • support new cultural activities
  • Sensible use of municipal properties
  • Optimize the education and childcare
